China being one of the oldest civilisations on the planet, Chinese cuisine has left a strong footprint on the culinary map of the world. China is an enormous country with vastly different regional cuisines from Hunan to Sichuan (or Szechuan as spelled by asians). Chinese recipe defines itself on the three basic principles of the cuisine, namely colour, aroma and taste. Chinese food tends to be flavored with spices such as hot chilli, ginger and garlic. It also has a curry or 'gravy' accompanying most dishes. This brings it closer to Indian palette than the geographical distance between them.

This also made our enterprise, Happy Monk foods, to begin our journey with this oldest route known to trade. The Silk Route. We at Shaolin, explore the vibrant and appetizing world of Chinese food as enjoyed by us Indians and the south Asian community. Although traditional Chinese may only imprint it, the Asian version draws from the broader Southeast Asian cultures such as Singapore and Thailand. The result is a platter of flavours ranging from the mild brush of lemon grass to the predominant black bean sauce, the light and healthy tofu to the harshly flavourful szechuan chilli.

We welcome you to “Shaolin” to relish this experience, specially created to suit your pallet.
