Hot Dog Hut

The restaurant spent four years in Southeast Roanoke and moved to the Williamson Road location, which used to house Rico's Pizza. Nearly everything on the menu is less than $5.

Business owner Mike Covington said the hot dog market in Roanoke is tough, but he has an edge — his chili "People love our chili and our burgers," "We make them just like momma made them."

He said the Bam burger is also popular. It comes with bacon, pepperoni, jalapeno and cheese. He also said people are wild about his banana pudding, leading him to make more than nine gallons a day.

Hot Dog Hut seats about 25 people and is a quick grab-and-go type of place. It's open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
