Unethical termination is an important breach of an existing employment contract, and improper termination can only be resolved by further investigation. Employment contracts can only permit termination due to either good cause or reason, meaning the employee breached the contract in a material way or engaged in fraud or in some kind of misconduct. If there was no valid reason, the termination must be based on the employer's discretion.
In all employment cases where there is no valid reason, the employer has the discretion in determining the circumstances surrounding the termination. Sometimes, an employer will terminate a worker, and even sometimes if he has given the employee proper notice, he may still decide to terminate him for reasons that he deems inappropriate.
An employer should not dismiss employees in a cursory manner. The employer should have sufficient grounds to justify the dismissal and should have reasonable grounds to think that termination is justified. However, if the employer believes that his action is justified and is not violating any other agreement, he should consider not doing anything about it. It is only when the employer fails to give proper notice and terminate his employee, that he must consider what the consequences of his action might be.
