Carmino and Lucia Gennaro, our grandparents, immigrated from L'Aquila, Abruzzi, Italy and arrived in Ellis Island, New York in the late 1800's.

The province of L'Aquila is in the heart of Abruzzi, surrounded by the province of Teramo (North), Pescara and Chieti (East), Molise (Southeast) and Lazio (West)

The province of L'Aquila is the largest of the four provinces of Abruzzi.
