Café Alejo (ah-LE-ho) - Alejo is the Spanish version of Alex – which is short for Alexander. Café Alejo is the first of the proposed cafes of the A Boulevard Cafe concept located in Humboldt Park along Sacramento Boulevard in the Historic Prairie Style Pavilion Boathouse. Café Alejo offers a unique ambiance that facilitates the appreciation and reflection of the local history, the passion and commitment of Alexander Von Humboldt’s life and a variety of fresh healthy choices and succulent items.
Café Alejo’s décor will mirror the life, work and history of Alexander Von Humboldt, his travels and provide a display of photos of the homes and cities he lived while in Latin America providing a historical experience to our patrons. Café Alejo’s living menu will include fresh seasonal products, high quality foods and beverages from the countries Von Humboldt lived while in the Americas. Items such as coffees, teas, natural juices and a variety on premise made deserts as well as light meal options such as appetizers, small plates, soups and salads often made with natural and locally-sourced products are uncommon and not offered in the Humboldt Park area. Café Alejo will partner with local schools and agencies to provide internships, student employment and healthy eating lifestyle trainings. Café Alejo products and services along with regularly scheduled cooking-baking classes and our own cookbook will encourage community participation. The outdoor seating area as well as the Pavilion area provides space for live music in the weekends when tens of thousands visit Humboldt Park and enjoy the beautiful natural setting enhanced by the Pavilion Boathouse.
