Lito's Empanadas originated from the idea that empanadas, a typical delicacy of Latino cuisine, can be both wonderfully traditional and innovative.
Lito's Empanadas started in our home kitchen in 2007. After testing our empanadas on friends and family, we took the plunge and opened our first location in Lincoln Park in December, 2007. The empanadas were a hit, and we worked for 4 years to grow the business until opening our second location in Little Italy, with an expanded menu (added typical juices) and more seating capacity. We have chosen to stay very focused (and therefore have not changed our menu much throughout the years). We've had fun coming up with some "non-traditional" favorites such as Choco-Banana, BBQ Chicken, and Champinon Chicken. Our motto is to do what we do right.
