Shmuel David, with vast knowledge in restaurant management, wanted to offer the Kosher community the exciting experience of eating an authentic Argentinean steak.
For a dining experience one will agree is out-of-the-ordinary for Brooklyn, a visit to El Gaucho Glatt will delight you and your guests. This is the very first Kosher restaurant in New York to offer authentic Argentinean cuisine. Entering the El Gaucho Glatt, you'll feel as though you are gaining entrance to a striking Spanish Estate. Brick rustic, animal rug lined walls, a menu encased in leather and a richly colored mural, painted by artist Diana Sorkin, enriches the experience. This serves to bring the quiet atmosphere of the vast pampas (grasslands) of Argentina, the wandering ground of the legendary, romantic South American Gaucho, who traveled by horse and relied on cattle and wildlife for food and clothing in Uruguay and Brazil as well. His love of storytelling, chatting, laughing with friends and sharing his food is a tradition El Gaucho Glatt carries on. The Gaucho's asado (barbeque) consisted of a fire made on the ground or in a fire pit and surrounded by metal sticks holding the fare split open. El Gaucho Glatt recreates this style daily with grilling in the main dining room where diners actually witness their orders being cooked to perfection.
Its meat is of the highest quality, cooked using a state-of-the-art radiant grill and remains untouched by the flames, allowing it to surrender its juices, aroma and flavor to the heat of the fire. Its asado is served on individual parrillas (small table grills) which keeps the meat juicy and sizzling. Hearty, homemade soups, unique appetizers and creative salads made fresh daily round out the menu. Your tastebuds are transported to South America with house specialties like Steak a Caballo and Parillada Completa. Signature dishes include Canelones a la Rossini, Coconut Pineapple salad, Chorizo Parillero and Empanadas Caseras. El Gaucho Glatt's homemade desserts feature Flan al Caramelo, pancake -- apple or banana, served with vanilla ice cream. An expansive, refreshing array of red, sparkling (champagne), reserve, white and rose wines will satisfy even the most discriminating. The experience is so authentic that after your meal you may want to ride into the sunset like the El Gaucho himself.
