The Ear Inn. The oldest working bar in NYC.
As one of New York's oldest restaurants and bars, not to mention a designated landmark, we know how to serve great service and the best bar food in the city.
The libations don't stop until 4 am daily, but our kitchen closes at 2 am Monday through Thursday. Friday through Saturday we serve food until 3 am and on Sunday the kitchen closes at 1 am.
Since the liberation from Prohibition, the bar had no name. To sailors and longshoremen, it was like a clubhouse and known as "The Green Door." In 1977, new resident-owners christened the place the Ear Inn, so chosen to avoid the Landmark commission's lengthy review of any new sign.
We've seen many things come and go, but we remain the neon beacon on Spring Street. Follow our neon sign reading Ear to find your way to our historical bar. We hope you enjoy it. Please tell us if you see any ghosts.
