*What are blini?*
Blini (“blini”-plural, “blin”-singular) – thin pancakes that can be filled with savory or sweet deliciousness.
All blini are made to order and the fillings are made fresh daily from scratch. New filling flavors are added based on seasonality.
*About Blini Dom*
Blini Dom is the creation of Heather’s desire to share Russian cuisine with NYC residents and visitors. Blini Dom loosely translates to “Pancake House”. During the summer of 2012, one of Heather’s friends recommended that she take a solo trip for holiday. She had always wanted to visit Russia when she was younger. So, she booked her flight to Moscow for September.
While exploring Moscow, a new acquaintance introduced Heather to a popular Russian blini restaurant near Red Square. She and her friend were famished after exploring the Kremlin and other sites. She saw the blini filled with cabbage, egg, and cheese, and knew that that was the one for her! In that first bite, Heather got a preview of what her next six days in Moscow would entail – incredible warmth, spirit, and tastiness!
Though her trip was only six days, Heather felt a deep connection with Moscow. She recounted the details of her trip to friends and was constantly reminded of those delicious blini. Since Heather was unable to find blini in Manhattan similar to the blini she had in Moscow, Blini Dom was born!
